Hamburg has a lot of bio restaurants around the city where you can enjoy healthy organic food. Below you can read about Mutterland, Cafe Koppel and the Bio Company, three places that serve bio (organic) food and drinks in the St. George area.

Mutterland and Cafe Koppel are two bio restaurants, and the Bio Company is a bio supermarket with a small cafe section (a few tables). Below you can read more about each of them and the food they serve.

They can all be reach within a 2-10 minute walk from the Hamburg central station which is very convenient if you are coming into Hamburg with train.

Mutterland

Delicacy boutique and bio cafe next to Hamburg Central Station.

Just a 2 minute walk from the central station you find Mutterland, a unique boutique with gourmet delicacies and an organic cafe in the back.

The menu: is almost all organic and includes: breakfast dishes, omelets, müslies, pies, soups, salads and desserts. Drinks: include juices, homemade lemonades, coffees, teas and a special selection of different hot chocolates including hot chocolate with chili, lavendel, vanilia, caramel, orange, coconut or plain (if you don’t drink milk they offer soymilk).

Speciality food options: Vegetarian      Price: 4-9 Euro

The boutique: offers a wide variety of german gourmet food and sweets like fine chocolates, oils, vinegar, marinades, drinks etc., as well as a few books and artistic things. In the boutique you’ll also find a bakery section where you can get fresh organic bakeries and different drinks to go.

Cafe Koppel

Enjoy a full vegetarian an mostly organic menu in the heart of a cultural hotspot in Hamburg.

Just a 7-10 minute walk from Hamburg central station, you can find Cafe Koppel, a vegetarian and mainly organic cafe. It’s placed inside the Culture House Koppel 66, where you can find art and crafts.

The Menu: enjoy different french-inspired breakfasts like breads, croissants, eggs, wholemeal roll and fruit. Is it past lunch time you can dive into a salad; plain, with cheese or tofu, or enjoy a soup, bowl of potatoes, a vegetabel stew or slice of wholemeal bread. For dessert try one of the glutenfree or vegan pies, cakes or their vegan/vegetarian ice creams from the brand Das Eis. Drinks: include cold drinks, coffes and teas (with milk or soymilk), juices, wine and beer.

Speciality food options: Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free.  Price: 2-9 Euro (more for wine)

Bio Company

Enjoy eating and shopping in a supermarket where everything is organic.

Organic Bio Company is a bio supermakert which also serves fresh bakeries and some hot food that can be eaten at one of the stores three tables. Everything in the store is organic.

The Menu: Enjoy a bakery section with organic breads (including vegan and gluten free options), pizza-breads, pies and cakes or the hot soup of the day. To drink you can get a selection of coffess and teas or buy one of the drinks from the store.

Speciality food options: Vegan, vegetarian, glutenfree.

The store includes a fresh produce section with fruits and veggies, a cold section with cheese, meat, vegan- and vegetarian products, frozen foods including normal and vegan ice creams, shelves with processed foods like oils, seeds, nuts, pasta, bread, spreads, cakes, biscuits, chocolates, sweet treats, juices, milks ect. The store also has a section with organic skin care, make-up, beauty and body products.
